Fine Art and Design in the fashionable south-eastern district of Oakley.  The current pair of exhibitions feature "Naturally - Inspired" works by painter Adam Hayward and photographer Lisa Britton, running at least through June with a likely one week overrun.

Hayward's oil paintings are infused with a magical realism and a glow of shades of blue and gold that recall Maxfield Parrish.  "Indigo Dawn" startles with its detailed trees leaning over a rock gorge, within which mists recede over rocks in water under a preternaturally blue sky.

Some pieces by Hayward have simple compositions of flowering limbs against monochrome skies that evoke Oriental painting, as in "Early Reprise". other works are more atmospheric, somewhere between sketches by Monet and Turner, such as the blue on blue, "Saphire Squall" and the ascending gold clouds of "Gabriels Sun". Most eloquent are the solitary trees against grey clouds and a gold horrizon of a "Sigh in June," and the twisting boughs against the pale blue-and-white skies of "Magnolia".
